Workshop opportunities at Gobabeb

Gobabeb also runs workshops which bring together scholars to explore issues and opportunities for learning noew or advanced methods.

Gobabeb will host a workshop on Climate Resilience and Sustainability, to be held from 7-11 December 2026. The aim will be to train attendees to measure ecological responses to climate variability, climate change, aridity, and hydrological conditions using tree rings.

The workshop is aimed at university graduates who are deeply interested in climate variability and how these have shaped African environments and societies.

The organizers will cover workshop costs (training materials, accommodation, meals) for 20 participants. Transport from Walvis Bay will be provided on Sunday 6 December 2026 and return to Walvis Bay  by 12h00 on Friday 11 December 2026. Participants have to arrange and fund their own travel to Walvis Bay.

You can see a shareable poster describing the workshop, its themes, and application procedure here.

You can download an application form here, along with instructions for submission.

Applications will be due before 2 October 2026.

The workshop is funded by The University of Cambridge Climate Collaboration programme and the MasterCard Foundation.
