Bernardo Peixoto

Universidade Estradual Paulista Julio de Mesquita Filho, São Paulo, Brazil

Bernardo is a Brazilian paleontologist specializing in trace fossils, a key aspect of understanding ancient ecosystems. He holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), along with a master's and doctorate in Ecology and Paleoecology, also from UFSCar.

His research focuses on interpreting the paleoenvironment and paleoclimate through trace fossils, as well as identifying their producers via neoichnology. Although he primarily studies trace fossils from aeolian depositional systems, his work also encompasses bioerosion and vertebrate ichnology.

Bernardo has conducted neoichnological and sedimentological studies on trace fossils in the dune desert in the Gobabeb area, contributing valuable insights into desert paleoecology.

Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher at Laboratório de Paleontologia de Macroinvertebrados (LAPALMA), in Brazil.
