Conrad (Nad) Brain is a wildlife veterinarian (BVSc - Onderstepoort) and obtained his PhD in primate ecophysiology based out of Gobabeb through the Wits Medical School.
Nad is a wildlife film-maker. His film on the Namib primate study earned a nomination as best newcomer at the green Oscars in Bristol.
Following his PhD, he became chief veterinarian in Etosha National Park for 13 years, specialising in rapid diagnostic assays for anthrax in black rhino and elephant, collaborating with the USA Naval Medical Institute.
He also studied elephant communication and documented his findings in a one-hour National Geographic special. Concurrently, he obtained his commercial pilot’s licence and flew both commercially and for conservation purposes with Wilderness Namibia.
He initiated the conservation Ecowings program through Wilderness Namibia which still is active in aerial and veterinary operations in research, law enforcement and anti-poaching throughout Namibia.
