Laurie Barrier

Associate Professor in Geology, Université Paris Cité – Institut de Physique du Globe, France

Laurie is a geologist specialising in tectonics, sedimentology, and geomorphology, working on the dynamics of continental surfaces and its links with tectonics and climate.

Her current research focuses on dynamics of desert landscapes and their coupling with the atmosphere and hydrosphere through combined sediment transport by winds and rivers. She is particularly interested in Cenozoic evolution and forcings of drylands in Africa and Asia. She also works on continental deformation and interactions between tectonics, climate and surface processes.

She is currently engaged in a project with Gobabeb on the geological history of the Namib Desert.
